GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are two active dogs.

Dante is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix. The shelter says that even though he is around 80 pounds, he is a "big softie." He always smiling, the shelter said, and likes to have lots attention from people. He is active and likes to play catch and with his toys.

Or you could choose Mel, a 3-year-old husky. The shelter described him as a "goofball," but said he does well meeting new people and in the car. He loves to go hiking, is well-behaved on the leash and doesn't usually get upset by squirrels and birds. He is treat-motivated and a quick learner.

The shelter reminded prospective families that huskies need regular grooming and exercise.

For more information on adopting any pet from KCAS, visit the organization’s website or call 616.632.7300.

Through Oct. 15, all dog adoptions at the Kent County Animal Shelter are $50, including the license.
