GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are an active retriever and a dog who loves to cuddle and play.
Bill is a 7-year-old Labrador retriever. Visiting the News 8 studio Friday, he was barking and hopping around with excitement. He's very social: He accepted pets and scratches from from the News 8 crew happily.
"He does have a loud, booming bark, which sounds kind of scary, but it's really well-intended," shelter director Angela Hollinshead said.
Bill came to the shelter as a stray and was never claimed. He can sit and shake, enjoys the car and is food-motivated, Hollinshead said — he ate all the treats she brought during his outing Friday.

Or you could pick Misha, a 5-year-old American Staffordshire terrier who has been featured as a pet of the week before. She's been at the shelter for almost a year after her owner was forced to give her up due to a housing issue.
Misha needs a house where she can be the center of attention, with lots of cuddles and toys and no cats. She loves to play, especially with tennis balls, and treats.
"She is a staff and volunteer favorite, and they would love to see her adopted before she reaches her one-year anniversary of being in the shelter," the shelter said.
