GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week’s featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are a social bunny and a dog that has been waiting for a home for 224 days.
Cinnabunn is a 1-year-old Thrianta that is really social and likes to greet people at the front of his cage when they walk by. His adoption fee is $10, and the shelter said bunnies can be litter box trained.
Millie is a 5 1/2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier that has been featured on WOOD TV8's Pet of the Week five previous times. She would do best in a home with no kids and where she is the only pet. The shelter said she can be a bit more independent and can also be good for yard pest control, leftover food disposal, a jogging partner and sun tanning buddy.
She is currently in a foster home and enjoys having outings with her favorite volunteer. According to the volunteer, she had a lot of fun on their last outing.
“Millie had fun on her hike at Provin Trails today! Millie loves this park and likes to choose which paths we’ll take. I clip her leash to the front of her harness and I don’t have any issues with her pulling. She does like to jog or run some at the beginning but it seems that’s just because she is excited to be there. She responds well to me when I say “walk” or “slow” and is patient with me when we are going downhill. We saw a dog on the trail and also saw a few people. It seems like she wants to meet them because she’ll try to have us follow them. But she does not bark at all during this. By the end of our hike, she’s happy to go back to the car and go to her foster home. Once there, she sits patiently until I give her a squeaky rubber ball and then she’s gone inside the house. She is a smart girl, responding well to what we say on the trail and she is so happy to be outside. My favorite part is when she periodically stops to enjoy the views," the volunteer told the shelter.
