KCAS Pets of the Week: Marina and Spork

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are a cuddly dog and a sweet cat.

Marina is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire terrier. The shelter described her as a "velvety princess" with soft fur who loves pets and cuddles and is very affectionate. She is treat-motivated and trainable, and already knows some commands. She gets along well with new people but should live in a home without any other dogs.

If you're more of a cat person, Spork may be for you. A 2-year-old domestic shorthair, Spork has been with the shelter for a while, "so we are hoping after today we can find this girl a home," the shelter said. Spork likes to hang out in the cattery and spend time with other cats. She's described as sweet and playful, though she needs a little time to warm up to people.

Cat adoption fees are $20, which includes vaccines, flea and tick prevention, microchipping, spaying or neutering and testing for feline immunodeficiency virus.

The shelter says Edgar, an American Staffordshire terrier, was adopted after being featured as the pet of the week last week.
