GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you’re looking for a calm companion to spend time with, look no further than this week’s pets of the week from the Kent County Animal Shelter.

First, meet Carlos. He’s a 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who has a gentle soul, according to shelter workers. Carlos was born with bad hips, which means he will need supplements throughout his life. However, whoever puts in a little extra time keeping Carlos healthy will be rewarded with endless loving licks.

Next is Cricket. She’s a 11-year-old terrier mix who is very mellow, according to KCAS. While this sweet girl has hit her golden years, shelter workers say a dog her size can easily live 18 to 20 years.
The Kent County Animal Shelter is one of 19 shelters and organizations recently awarded a total of $335,000 in grants from the BISSELL Pet Foundation. The funding came from this year’s BISSELL Blocktail Party, which posted record-breaking attendance and fundraising.
