GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable pets from the Kent County Animal Shelter are two lovable dogs.

Clyde is an 8-year-old American Staffordshire terrier who displayed his personality while visiting the News 8 studio Friday, barking to say he wanted a treat.

"If you have a bag of treats and you're not sharing them, he is going to tell you about it," shelter director Angela Hollinshead said.

Overall, she said, he's pretty mellow. He knows how to sit and loves to ride in the car.

"He's very smart," Hollinshead said. "He's a really nice, relaxed, sweet older dog. ... He still has a lot of energy."

Duke — who has been lovingly dubbed "Sir Dukington" — a 9-year-old American Staffordshire terrier, described as a "spirited senior." The shelter says he is bursting with love for people and truly adores his companions.

He prefers to be the only pet in a house and is currently in foster care, since the shelter can be too much for him. According to his foster family, Duke is "a very good boy with exceptional manners and is fully potty trained."

The shelter is running an adoption special: All dog adoptions are $70 until May 15.

"We have a lot of amazing dogs right now that are looking for homes," Hollinshead said. "And cats, if you're a cat person."
