GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — This week's featured adoptable dogs from the Kent County Animal Shelter are a big guy and a smaller lady who want to find their forever homes.
Tank is a 1.5-year-old American bulldog mix. He's pretty calm, likes to hang out at the shelter's front desk and enjoys going on field trips and snuggling with people.
In the News 8 studio Friday, Tank showed off that he knows how to sit on command. He's smart and food-motivated, shelter director Angela Hollinshead said, so he should be amenable to training. He would likely do well in an active household that's prepared for a big dog — Tank weighs about 70 pounds.
He has been with the shelter since July, including spending time with a foster family. He has lived with children without trouble, but "can be a little grouchy" with other dogs, Hollinshead said.
"Sometimes he doesn't realize how big he is," Hollinshead said. "He can be a little much, particularly for a smaller, older dog."

Or you can choose Croissant, a 2-year-old American Staffordshire terrier. The shelter says she's "ready to find a new home that will spoil her." She loves snuggling and laying in her bed playing with a chew toy.
"Croissant is so happy to meet ALL of the people and will run over with her butt wiggling to greet anyone she can," the shelter wrote.
She came to the shelter with a dry skin condition, but treatment from veterinarians have made it much better.
